In the world of celebrity parties, anything can happen. While appearing at Cannes Lions on June 22nd, Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl recounted one particular night that involved Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and a jam session. Oh, it gets better.

From what Grohl shares, it sounds as though everyone was gathered at one of McCartney’s homes when the evening turned into a jam session. “Paul gets up and starts playing a song, and it’s amazing,” Grohl tells the audience, pausing for a moment to include, “By the way, just so you know, Paul McCartney is the baddest motherf—– in the world.”
Once McCartney finished tinkling the ivories, Grohl says the entire living room turned their attention to him. “Well I don’t know how to play piano, like I don’t know what to do, man. I can’t play f—ing piano.” Grohl recalls thinking at the time. Since McCartney plays more than piano, he also had several guitars and basses on hand. But they were all left-handed. Plus, Grohl admitted he might have smoked a little too much marijuana.
“I was already challenged enough,” he chuckles about being high and trying to play a left-handed instrument on the spot. That’s when Swift stepped in. She stood up, offered to play a song and sat down at the piano.
“I was like, ‘Oh thank god. Taylor Swift’s here. It’s like f—ing Batman when you need him,” Grohl says. He picked up a left-handed bass and fumbled along but it wasn’t really working. “She was playing this really beautiful thing on the piano, and I look at my wife and I’m like, ‘I know this f—ing this song.” It turns out, Swift was playing the Foo Fighters’ hit “Best of You.”
“As if I weren’t high enough. That f—ing blew me into outer space, man,” he concluded before launching into the song. Watch below.
